The Fellows Society recognizes and honors the generosity of those who have made a lasting impact through their cumulative giving to the California Scottish Rite Foundation. The Three Fellows: Honoring Cumulative Giving The Fellows Society recognizes and honors the generosity of those who have made a lasting impact through their cumulative giving to the California Scottish Rite Foundation. This exclusive distinction acknowledges donors whose ongoing contributions have directly supported our mission of providing critical speech and language services to children in need. Each tier within The Fellows represents a milestone in philanthropic commitment, reflecting the dedication of individuals and organizations who have continuously invested in the future of our programs. By tracking cumulative giving over time, we ensure that every gift—whether large or small—is part of a greater legacy of support. Through their generosity, our Fellows help expand access to life-changing therapy, enhance our facilities, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the RiteCare Childhood Language Centers across California. Their ongoing commitment demonstrates the true spirit of Masonic philanthropy, leaving a profound and lasting impact on the lives of the children and families we serve. We are deeply grateful to each of our Fellows for their steadfast support and dedication to giving children a voice and a future. Meet the fellows Ernest Borgnine $25,000 - $99,999 Born Ermes Effron Borgnino, III to Italian immigrant parents, he served in the United States Navy after high school, and was discharged in November 1941, reenlisting after the attack on Pearl Harbor. After the war, he took up acting, which led to a successful career spanning 58 years, during which he received numerous awards, including an Academy Award for Best Actor. Ernest Borgnine was raised a Master Mason in Abingdon Lodge No. 48 in Abingdon, VA, and was also an active Scottish Rite Mason and member of Long Beach Valley, where the auditorium was named in his honor. He was coroneted a 33° Inspector General Honorary in 1983 and received the Grand Cross in 1991. Borgnine was known throughout his professional and fraternal life as a warm, kind man, who had an “everyman” appeal. Henry Clausen $100,000 to $499,999 Clausen was an accomplished attorney who served as Assistant United States Attorney in San Francisco. A member of the Judge Advocate General Corps during WWII, he served honorably in that conflict, and later was Special Investigator for Secretary of War Henry Stinson, carrying out the Congressionally mandated investigation into the attack on Pearl Harbor. The Clausen Report of that investigation is the definitive determination of the cause of that attack. Clausen was an active Scottish Rite Mason, and served as Grand Master of Masons in California, and later as Grand Commander of the Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Southern Jurisdiction, U.S.A. While Grand Commander, he authored several books discussing Freemasonry that are considered important works in the canon of the fraternity. EARL WARREN $500,000 + Earl Warren had a distinguished career in the law and government, serving as Governor of the State of California, and later as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He is remembered by many as the chair of the committee that investigated the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, known as the “Warren Commission”. After serving in WWI, he began his Masonic journey in 1919, and his legal career in 1920. Warren is generally considered to be one of the most influential Supreme Court justices and political leaders in the history of the United States, having presided over the Warren Court, writing the majority opinions in landmark cases such as Brown v. Board of Education (1954), Reynolds v. Sims (1964), Miranda v. Arizona (1966), and Loving v. Virginia (1967). Schools, monuments, university halls and ships have been named in honor of this outstanding Scottish Rite Mason. • Past Chairmen | CASRF

Honor CASRF’s past chairmen. Featuring Ill. Frank Loui, their stewardship unified California Scottish Rite and grew RiteCare programs for children statewide. Meet Our Past Chairmen Frank Loui Past Chairman 2013 - 2024 Frank Loui led with one goal: strengthen the California Scottish Rite Foundation so more children receive life-changing speech-language care. As the most recent past chairman, he improved donor stewardship, and prioritized predictable funding for RiteCare Childhood Language Centers statewide. He emphasized disciplined governance, transparent reporting, and measurable outcomes—helping clinics plan confidently, retain talented clinicians, and expand access for families. By aligning leadership, philanthropy, and programs, Frank advanced a culture of accountability and impact that continues to guide the Foundation’s work for children across California. Henry C. Clausen – Chairman (1955–1986) Chairman of the California Scottish Rite Foundation for more than three decades, Clausen guided the Foundation through its formative growth, strengthening its commitment to children’s speech-language services and establishing the governance and donor culture that future leaders would build upon. H. Douglas Lemons – Chairman (1987–2005) Lemmons emphasized statewide unity and steady stewardship. Under his chairmanship, the Foundation expanded its footprint and refined its partnerships with local valleys and clinical providers, helping more families access high-quality therapy and support. William Stovall - Chairman (2007–2012) Chairing during a period of economic headwinds, Stovall focused on financial discipline, donor engagement, and service continuity. His tenure helped stabilize operations and keep vital therapy services accessible to children across California. Frank Loui, Chairman (2013–2024) Frank Loui focused the Foundation on stability and results—strengthening governance, rallying valley support, and securing consistent funding for RiteCare Childhood Language Centers. His emphasis on transparency and measurable outcomes helped clinics plan, hire, and serve more families. That standard of accountability continues to shape the Foundation’s impact today. “Unity, service, and results—always in that order.” Frank Loui – Chairman (2013–2024) Our past chairmen laid the groundwork for today’s 19 RiteCare Childhood Language Centers. DONATE NOW THE PAST GRAND MASTER'S SYMBOLS The Sprig of Acacia represents William J Bray III who was the first Grand Master who appointed me to serve as a District Inspector. The acacia was a prominent symbol in his logo and reminds me of the immortality of the soul. THE SPRIG OF ACACIA The Double Headed Eagle represents Frank Loui who as Grand Master appointed me to my second term as a District Inspector and is also a member of San Francisco Lodge No 120 F&AM which is the lodge where I received the degrees of Masonry. Frank has a particularly special place in my Masonic journey as he served as the Installing Officer when I became the Charter Master of The 33 Lodge in 2021 and also as my Installing Officer in October 2024 when I became Grand Master. The double headed eagle is a prominent symbol in Scottish Rite Masonry in which I have also had the opportunity to work with Frank in his role as the Sovereign Grand Inspector General of California. THE DOUBLE HEADED EAGLE The California Bear represents John F Lowe who as Grand Master appointed me to my third term as a District Inspector and is also a member of Irvine Valley Lodge No 671 F&AM which is the lodge where I affiliated in Orange County and served as Master. John has a particularly special place in my Masonic journey as he served as my Master of Ceremonies when I became Master of our lodge in December 2007 prior to his election into the Grand Lodge progressive line and also as my Master of Ceremonies in October 2024 when I became Grand Master. The bear was a prominent symbol in his logo as he reminded all Masons to share Masonry Beyond the Lodge. THE CALIFORNIA BEAR The Globe on the Column represents John L Cooper III who as Grand Master appointed me to my fourth term as a District Inspector. The globe in this instance reminds me of the vast knowledge that he has gained and shared with all Masons and the importance of being both a teacher and student throughout life. THE GLOBE ON THE COLUMN The Moon represents Russell E Charvonia who as Grand Master appointed me to my fifth and final term as a District Inspector. As the moon reflects the light from the sun it reminds me that those around us will reflect the light that we give off and if we are to achieve a world in harmony we too must be in harmony. THE MOON The Setting Maul represents M David Perry who was the first Grand Master I served as Grand Treasurer. The setting maul reminds me of Dave’s profession as a builder of homes and how important it is that we should build our home with love. THE SETTING MAUL The Winding Staircase represents John R. Heisner who as Grand Master included the winding staircase as the prominent symbol on his tie. As the image of the winding staircase also resembles the design of a seashell it also reminds me of John’s love of living near the beach either in San Diego or Hawaii. THE WINDING STAIRCASE The Cross and Crown represents Bruce R Galloway who was the Grand Master that I associated the most with the York Rite bodies of Masonry. The cross and crown are important symbols in the York Rite and reminds me to try to be the calm and peaceful presence that Bruce exhibited. THE CROSS AND CROWN The Three Lesser Lights represent Stuart A Wright who was the first Grand Master that I served as Grand Treasurer throughout his four-year progression in the Grand Lodge line. The three lights were a prominent feature in his lapel pin design and reminds me of the feeling of taking my first-degree obligation in Masonry. THE THREE LESSER LIGHTS The Spade represents John E Trauner who was the Grand Master who first taught me about the beauty of “mountain masonry”. As the spade is an instrument to dig it reminds me of John’s focus on sharing the gold country with all he encountered. THE SPADE The 47th Problem of Euclid represents Arthur H Weiss who was the sixth and final Grand Master I served as Grand Treasurer. The Euclidean symbol reminds me of Art’s love of space which featured prominently in his logo and his career spent as a rocket scientist furthering our knowledge of the universe. THE 47TH PROBLEM OF EUCLID The Beehive represents Jeffery M Wilkins who was the Grand Master I served as Junior Grand Warden. The beehive was the prominent symbol in his logo and reminds me of his love of spending time with the brothers at every lodge he visited while meeting as equals. THE BEEHIVE The Top Hat represents Randall L Brill who was the Grand Master I served as Senior Grand Warden. While the top hat is a symbol of someone in authority it is also a prominent feature in the world of magic which was a great passion of his. THE TOP HAT The Sun represents G Sean Metroka who was the Grand Master I served as Deputy Grand Master. The sun featured prominently in his logo and as the sun spreads it’s rays upon the world it reminds me of his message of spreading the virtues of our gentle craft. THE SUN The Anchor represents Allan L Casalou who has served as Grand Secretary throughout my entire service described above. His friendship and counsel have kept me from being swept away no matter how calm or rough the waters may seem. THE ANCHOR The Crossed Keys are the symbol of the office of Grand Treasurer which I had the honor to serve in from October 2015 through October 2021. In the history of the Grand Lodge of California I was privileged to be the 23rd brother to serve in this office. THE CROSSED KEYS The Hourglass reminds me of my own mortality and that none of us know how much time we have and that we should live each day to its fullest. THE HOURGLASS The 24 Inch Gauge reminds me that no matter how we divide our day into a part to the service of the Creator, a part for earning our living, and a part for rest that we all have the same amount of time in the day to make the most of. THE 24 INCH GAUGE The Level reminds me that we should always meet one another as equals and strive for equality in all we do. THE LEVEL The Plumb reminds me that I should strive to live uprightly and that I cannot expect others to live by my personal expectations and should therefore be compassionate to others in their actions through life. THE PLUMB The Square reminds me that I should always endeavor to act with honesty and integrity in all I do. THE SQUARE The Gavel reminds me that a leader should always act with fairness to the greater good especially when it’s in conflict with personal interests. THE GAVEL The Square and Compass as the most recognized symbol of Masonry reminds me that we must hold ourselves accountable to our Creator, to one another, and to ourselves. THE SQUARE AND COMPASS The Letter G reminds me that above all things it is the divine inspiration from our great Creator that makes all things possible. Learn about the 4 programs supported by the California Scottish Rite Foundation, all of which provide life-changing speech and language therapy to children in... PROGRAMS Speech, language and literacy challenges can strike any child – with devastating outcomes. Many of these children struggle daily with the task of speaking, reading and writing. They become used to being teased, ignored, or scolded when they want to say something, when attempting to read, or when asked to write. Unfortunately, countless children with speech, language and literacy disorders are socially promoted from one grade to the next and suffer from extremely low self-confidence and difficulty succeeding academically. The California Scottish Rite Foundation designates the funds raised from their donors to support the RiteCare Childhood Language Centers of California. We have also partnered with several Universities and private practices, like Speech Goals , with the goal of making a lasting difference in the lives of children in California. Each year the Foundation provides support for life-changing speech, language, and literacy treatment of childhood language challenges to more than 2,300 children in communities across the state, provided at no cost to families, thanks to donors and grants. Since its founding in 1958, the Foundation also provides in excess of over $165,000 annually in support of a wide variety of scholarship assistance to over 70 deserving California students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. 1.
